What is Wawayanda Citizens Advisory Group (WCAG)?

Currently the Town of Wawayanda is being considered as a potential site for an electric generating plant.  The Calpine Corporation has plans to build a gas turbine electric generating plant on Dolsontown Rd.  In accordance with New York State law a citizens advisory group must be formed to ensure that the people of the town are represented and their concerns heard.  The WCAG was formed in August 2000 and has to date been attending numerous meetings between the  WCAG, Calpine and the various state agencies involved (Department of Public Service, Department of Environmental Conservation, etc), and will be meeting with the Town Board.  It is the objective of the Wawayanda Citizens Advisory Group to keep the people of Wawayanda as informed as possible every step of the way.  We encourage participation by any and all concerned citizens.  All our meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend.  This newsletter is intended to introduce the members and to solicit your input.  Through subsequent newsletters we will attempt to keep you as informed as possible.
